Friends of Duchess Wood (FODW) is a local, voluntary organisation that aims:

Biodiversity
FODW aims to increase the biodiversity of Duchess Wood, focusing on re-introducing native Scottish tree and plant species, which may encourage the growth of existing animal and bird populations and attract new species to the area.
Promoting Recreation
FODW aims to provide a natural, but accessible environment for young and old alike for recreational purposes.
Safeguarding Duchess Wood
FODW in conjunction with Argyll and Bute Council is dedicated to maintaining and improving the infrastructure, such as paths, bridges and culverts, within Duchess Wood and preventing anti-social behaviour and wildlife crime.
Promoting Education
FODW in conjunction with local schools aims to integrate the woods into the national curriculum, whether it is for sport or for academic subjects, including maths, science and geography.
